St. Paul Lutheran School Library

Welcome to our web site

Looking for Accelerated Reader titles for which we have quizzes?  Quizlist is our online interactive database. Quizlist gives you an easy to use search interface so our students can zero in on the books they're interested in whether they're at school or at home. Quizzes can be found by book title, author, book level or points.

History

Our library began in 1971 with eighty loaned books. Today the circulation of more than 16,000 volumes is automated. Students have access to multi-media reference stations for research as well as eight networked stations for the Accelerated Reader program.

St. Paul uses the Accelerated Reader, a nationally acclaimed computerized reading management program. Students read from a selection of over 11,000 titles. Each book is assigned a reading level and point value based on the length and difficulty of the book.  The STAR Reading Assessment initially determines a student’s reading level. Students keep reading logs of their daily reading practice and take computerized comprehension quizzes on books read. The upper grades use AR goals in calculating a portion of each student’s reading grade.

Library Hours

The library is open from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on school days.
All classes are scheduled for a weekly library time.

Summer Reading Log

Summer reading is fun reading! It's best to choose books that are not AR titles. Keep a list of the title and author of each book read.

  • Students in grades K-8 are invited to participate.
  • Kindergarteners may participate by having books read to them.
  • Grades K – 4 are asked to read a minimum of 10 books.
  • Grades 5 – 8 are asked to read a minimum of6books.
  • Required summer reading may be included.

Students returning the list to the library in August will have their names placed on the Library Bulletin Board. The customary contribution of $25 per student helps defray library expenses and build our reference section. Those choosing to contribute will receive “Gold Medals” honoring their gift to the library. Please remember the donation is voluntary and not required for participation.
